The incidence of Cancer is rising across India and the globe. Hence our Cancer Care is a global initiative.
The social and economic impact of cancer is staggering. According to GLOBECON2012, the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) suffered $46.3 billion in productivity loss due to cancer. It makes for 0.33% of their combined GDP.
Cancer demands a tough mind to fight it. For those who experience the trauma of detection and treatment of cancer or fear of recurrence, Life Again Foundation holds motivational camps. These camps help the cancer warriors and support seekers to come together in the presence of eminently qualified counsellors leading to healthy dialogue and counselling. Also, motivational speakers address these camps to help the patients develop the courage and fortitude to fight and defeat cancer.
So far, we have conducted 360 motivational camps.
What can You Do
You can provide infrastructure and maintenance support for camps. Also, if you are a professional counsellor or psychologist, or psychiatrist, we welcome to talk to the attendees.
Cancer awareness campaigns are held in major cities across India, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Nizamabad, and Chennai.
The campaigns take the form of roadshows, awareness meets held by Life Again Warriors, doctor-driven meets, and so on. While some of them are meant for groups, others are meant for a one-to-one dialogue in establishing the awareness.
What can You Do
Each awareness camp costs about INR 50,000/-. You can donate the cost of a camp, and we contribute to the campaign by sending our team of experts for conducting the camp.
Many a time, the middle and lower income groups are not left with enough resources for nutrition after providing for the cancer treatment. However, highly nutritive food is required to revive the body. To ensure appropriate nutrition, Life Again Foundation provides meals to patients undergoing treatment at hospitals that treat people from the middle and lower income groups and associated with us.
Life Again supports this program in two ways, through sending cooked meals to hospitals or donating to hospitals for making their own arrangements.
What can You Do
We welcome donations in cash towards the cost and supply of food. For this programme, we do not accept material donations since the food and logistics are available as a package.
We organise immunotherapy (inducing body’s immune system to fight cancer cells), yoga programmes, and physical health camps are organised.
What can You Do
You can arrange for a facility to organise yoga and alternative therapy programmes in a place of your choice. We will have experts train the attendees. We conduct these programmes only based on invitation.
We organise health camps throughout the year, on your request, to conduct tests that screen for cancer and overall health.
What can You Do
The cost of a camp ranges from INR 1 lakh to 5 lakhs. You can donate for organising a health camp in your village or town of choice.
Early detection of cancer ensures that 70% of the people who test positive can be saved. Therefore, treating patients in the early stages of cancer is equal to averting huge social costs. Therefore, at every district, Life Again Foundation intends to set up a cancer detection centre. This centre is open throughout the year and offers cancer detection tests at nominal costs.
What Can You Do
You can support each cancer detection centre by bearing the maintenance costs, supplying consumables, dedicating a facility to run the centre, and staff.
Life Again Foundation, with the support of donors, has organised two mobile screening centres Mounted on a bus, each centre carries doctors, nurses and the equipment for breast scanning, cervical scanning, hemogram, and so on to scan people in villages across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. These hospitals support early detection of cancer and other diseases and take healthcare to villagers’ doorstep while increasing cancer awareness.
What Can You Do
Each fully-equipped bus costs INR 1.2 Cr or approximately USD 185,000. Life Again is inviting donations for organising mobile hospitals. You can donate a fully-equipped bus, money to buy a bus, or bear a part of the cost. Also, you can donate supplies for the mobile hospital, or even offer your support by volunteering as a staff member who accompanies the bus.
